Review: Lois Lane: Cloudy With a Chance of Destruction

Lois Lane: Cloudy with a Chance of Destruction is an official teaser short story for the YA novel Lois Lane: Fallout, which takes place when the young Lois is in high school and hasn't yet moved to Metropolis. In it Lois is at a new school when an idiotic boy in her class does something stupidly dangerous in an effort to win back his girlfriend after she dumps him.
Similarly to Smallville and Gotham, this story introduces a younger Lois Lane, also bringing her into the present day where she chats online about strange and paranormal events with a boy known to her only as “Smallvilleguy”. It's a little too young for me, which is fair enough since it is marketed as for ages fourteen and up. It has been likened to Veronica Mars, which I think is a bit of a stretch since it's nowhere near as dark nor as clever. It will probably appeal to younger teens who are into superhero comics and Nancy Drew type mysteries. Lois is a wholesome, likeable hero and I have a feeling I would have enjoyed this at 14.
