Readathon for Women's Education Wrap Up
We have come to the end of our fundraising/reading experiment and I think it went fairly well.
Miss Six listened to Lily Quench and the Dragon of Ashby by Natalie Jane Prior (about a young female dragonslayer), Nightbird by Alice Hoffman (a very cool urban fantasy for kids), Oliver Twist (retold for younger readers by Roy McMillan). I finished Blood Bound by Patricia Griffiths (Mercy Thompson #2).
We finished The Marvelous Land of Oz by Frank L. Baum (the second in the Oz series), The Sky Warden and the Sun by Sean Williams and What Body Part is That? and The 52 Storey Tree House, both by Andy Griffiths (the kids are now desperately hanging out for he next book which comes out in September).
Miss Six's books
Miss Six went on a reading strike for a bit, but still got through Tug the Pup and the Sand Castle and I Broke My Trunk (an Elephant and Piggy Book) by Mo Willems.
I finished In the Quiet by Eliza Henry-Jones and Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll.
So that's another 12 books, bringing our total number of books up to 28 (ie. $28 pledged by me). It's not as many as I'd hoped to get through, but given that we are sadly forced to do things other than read, like eat, sleep, bathe, clean, nursemaid stupid chickens that have injured themselves trying to get over fences etc. it's not too shabby. Our grand total of money raised will be... drumroll... $88, which is enough to do some good for a number of women in developing countries. I still have to jump through one or two minor hoops to get the money out of Gofundme, but I will turn it into a Kiva loan as soon as I can and will let you know once that's set up. Thanks to everyone who helped out!
